A balanced nervous system helps put body memories in their right place.
A sympathetic nervous system mode, (Focus, fright, flight, freeze) can be a daily memory. Our body's on auto pilot, charged without realising. This charge becomes a new normal.
Building an understanding of what our rest, digest, calm and peaceful mode (Parasympathetic Nervous system) feels like can put this sympathetic mode into a different perspective.
How do we engage the parasympathetic?
Give our bodies, mind and Spirit permission to be without thought, without conditions, expectations.

Many of my clients find it refreshing, restoring and enabling. To get on with life in a balanced, vital way.
Regular massage sessions can re-train the brain to understand what relaxing really feels like, and when practised can be expanded into everyday life, through out the day.
I recommend weekly treatments for three weeks to train the feeling and give strategies to build this memory into everyday life.
One client who has followed this protocol has been surprised by how responsive rather than reactive she is when under the busyness of Life.
DO YOU NEED A MORE BALANCED RESPONSE
RATHER THAN A REACTIVE EMOTIONAL FIRECRACKER?!

So what is happening physiologically?
Our neuro-pathways have habits and routines just like we do.
We interrupt information and it enters our body, and neurotransmitters are secreted accordingly.
These neurotransmitters basically are involved with igniting a hormone responses through the body that charge our bodies in what we have commanded them to do. RELAX OR RUN.
However the subtle shift is in the language we listen to every day and not sure if you have noticed, but more and more dramatic language is being used to get a reaction, rather than a response.
For example a headline, might say, "ALARMING VIOLENCE ON THE RISE"
Music lyrics more evoking. Movies more dramatic and less light hearted.
Constantly being spoken to in dramatic language can subtly drive up a stress response, consciously or subconsciously. Which is important to recognise. Even you may think consciously you can dismiss these words, subconsciously there is a threat to safety and neurotransmitters have already been released. Hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, the common ones although there are more.
Parasympathetic neurotransmitters are involved with releasing hormones involved with complete safety, being present, and letting everything be well. Hormones such as dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin. Gentle music, soft lighting, calm nature. Soft, kind, encouraging words, beautiful tender actions are associated with these hormones. It a good thing to ask ones self, how am I practicing these actions? If they feel foreign to do so, it indicates the real memory in action. Your body could be in sympatheitc overload.
DON'T BE DISMAYED ...... change is possible!
Both these pathways are amazing and needed. Awareness, connection and balance is important to a vital life. Like all things too much of one thing is not a sustainable in the long term.
Come and practice and feel the difference, live the difference.
An invitation to more vitality!!
